Carm has built his musical roots as a singer-songwriter and producer here in Hamilton, Ontario. You may know him as a soloist on local stages or as the front man for two well established Hamilton bands "The Feels" and "LIVE HOW YOU LIVE".
Aside from live production and performance, Carm has been involved in studio work for over 20 years, working with an extensive list of artists. He is a graduate of the "Recording Arts Canada" program and his performance and studio production work has taken him all over the globe, including California, Rome, Italy, Beijing, China and across Canada.
Carm has shared the stage with Buffy Sainte-Marie, The Sheepdogs, 54-40, The Arkells, USS, Organ Thieves, Crash Karma, Brian Byrne, Chubby Checker, Monster Truck and more. Collectively Carm and his bands have won 4 Hamilton Music Awards and were nominated for "Rock Record of the Year" 5 separate years. In 2010 his writing for the song "one life" won "The John Lennon's 70th Birthday from over 10,000 entries worldwide.
Carm's passion for music and positive work ethic makes him a great team player in the studio. His experience, enthusiasm and genuine approach to music production helps to get the best out of every performer he works with. He continues to help local artists to get on their feet by capturing their best efforts in studio and by assisting in booking shows and aids in public promotion of each and every act he works with. Music has become a part of Carm's identity, not only as a local musician but as a person.
The Truth about Hamilton singer-songwriter Brian Melo is that he became a household name in 2007 after winning Canadian Idol and embarked on a personal journey to in some small way change the world through music. His desire was to be more than just your average rock star; Brian wanted to write music that would excite, entertain and inspire his newly loyal fans. He also wanted to remain true to himself.
Brian’s debut album “Livin’ It” revealed his fast emerging songwriting instincts. The album achieved Gold Status and his first single “All I Ever Wanted” hit #1 on the charts, and became the unofficial anthem for the 2008 Canadian Summer Olympic Team. Brian charted two additional singles, “Shine” and “Summertime” from his debut and “Summertime” was also covered by Australian Idol winner Shannon Noll and was a Top 20 hit down under.
Over the last few years Brian’s had the opportunity to share the stage with some great artists, (Queen, Maroon 5, Rihanna, Bon Jovi and fellow Idol Kelly Clarkson) and afterward (Alanis Morissette and Chicago to name a few) His national tours saw him rock some of our country’s most legendary venues and partner with other rising stars like Faber Drive for whom he also guested on their “Sleepless Nights” single and video.
In 2010 Brian released his 2nd album The Truth which was a collection of songs that showcased Brian emerging as a world class singer-songwriter. He possesses an uncanny ability to combine classic rock energy with contemporary nuance and unforgettable melodies. He has, in a word become “prolific”, having written more than 70 songs over two years, with many already destined for other artists’releases or TV and film. Brian also had two singles from The Truth, "Soundproof" & "Anywhere But Here" that both charted on Canadian Radio. "Soundproof" peaked at #4 on the MuchMusic Video Countdown and since then Brian has done numerous shows all over Canada.
After the success of his two solo records, Brian started writing and working on his upcoming third album. Until of course one show would send his career on a new path he was never expecting. Brian was invited to perform a rendition of "Eye Of The Tiger" for Sylvester Stallone at a Gala in Brian's hometown of Hamilton, ON where Stallone would be the guest of honour. Wanting to gather the best talent possible for his performance he invited (Vocalist) Victoria Boland, (Guitarist) Andrew Rudd to share the stage with him.
Shortly after that APOLLO'S CROWN was born! Brian and Apollo's Crown recorded their debut album with Grammy nominated producer Dave Brainard at The Legendary Grand Victor RCA studios in Nashville, Tennessee where Brian lives today! Brian's passion for music and people is always apparent. He is constantly growing and staying creative and currently working on new material for his next solo project.
